These statistics may look great but you can’t imagine how much effort stands behind them.
Why are we different?
At ScalaHosting, we made sure everything is planned in detail even before we started getting our first customers. Our amazing team, careful strategizing, and eye for innovations are what made the uptime shown above possible.
ScalaHosting utilizes multiple upstream providers to avoid downtimes. We have multiple uplink connections to four different upstream providers in each of our data centers. The traffic is automatically re-routed using the BGP routing technology. We also have an HSRP setup which helps in case of a router hardware failure. That means if one of our routers dies, our network will not go down with it – a standby router will take over to keep everything online.
Along with that we obtain information about the temperature in each cabinet and get notified in case of anomalies. The same applies to the end user servers. We monitor the temperature at all times, knowing just how much bandwidth each server is pushing at any time.
ScalaHosting sets up two switches in each cabinet, allowing our servers to take full advantage of 2 gbits of connectivity. Not that we need so much, but in case the traffic spikes through the roof – we have a good upper margin. In case one switch dies – all connections are re-routed via the second switch in the same cabinet.
Apart from all that, our servers have a minimum of four drives set up in a RAID10 model on a modern hardware raid card for maximum performance and reliability. That means if one or even two of our hard drives fail, the server will remain online. We get notified about the drive’s failure immediately so we can replace them within 15 minutes. The RAID array gets rebuilt and the server comes back to its regular state with no service interruption.
Our servers utilize A and B power feeds. That adds extra reliability in case of power failures. The ScalaHosting support proactively resolves potential problems so our clients can sleep well without worrying if their server is down.
The combination of these optimization techniques is what helped Scala achieved the uptime numbers above. And we plan to only get better…

Agreed 🙂 We started receiving so much feedback from customers since we started our blog, Facebook and Twitter. The communication has greatly improved. Our customers can now see what exactly we are doing to make services better value and that is very important.
Stats are great, but don’t forget about the downtime on hunter about 4 months ago, which was eventually migrated to saver. Aside from that I have never had downtime with you.
Yes, we remember it. I personally remember it as I was working 20+ hours on that day to make sure services are running smoothly after the migration to the new box. At that time, we were still using the services of Softlayer and it took ages for them to setup a new server for us. They gave us servers with failing hardware 2 times in a row. It was horrible experience but that can’t happen now as we currently own all our equipment and we have enough spare servers for cases like that. If a server dies we have a spare one to move the hard drives to and that takes 15 minutes. We are happy that we now have full control over our equipment. 🙂

Many hosting companies calimed they are the best, but for my budget Scala is realy a good choise for the following reasons:
1- Excellent uptime compined with good price.
2- Quick respone for technical support requests.
3- Online chatting to solve my problems.
4- Extra space and bandwidth, free upgrade.
5- Free migration for my old accounts.
6- Spam free servers.
As an Egyptian web development company I recommend Scala for any company looking for world class hosting.

because when i had server with virpus i got daily more than 30 invalid login attempts email from my vps server from different ips but on scalahosting i didn’t get this type of email from my vps server that ‘s really nice and i didn’t access my vps through ssh till now..

I’ve been with them from their beginning and recently upgraded. During the upgrade I experienced some anxiety that was not their problem and despite my being pushy and quite unfair at one point, they handled everything in superlative fashion! I have been with a handful of the ‘famous’ brand name providers and I mean ‘famous among the pros’ not among the amateur public – scala are the best. Best value, best help and best staffing, bar none.
