If you&#8217;re not certain, restore to a separate location first (below) and copy what you need across by hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Restore Files to a Separate Location<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the <strong>Restore Backups<\/strong> page, find the date and click <strong>Show Files<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Locate the file or folder you need and click <strong>Restore<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the dropdown, select <strong>Restore in alternative location<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the text box that appears, enter the destination path &#8211; for example, \/home\/user\/public_html_from_backup.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Restore<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The files land in the folder you specified inside your account&#8217;s home directory, leaving your live files untouched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Restoring Databases<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Databases give you three options: overwrite the current one, save a .sql dump without importing, or download the dump to your computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Restore and Import Into Your Existing Database<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the <strong>Restore Backups<\/strong> page, find the date and click <strong>Show Databases<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The page refreshes and shows the databases from that backup.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Locate the database you need and click <strong>Restore<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the dropdown, select <strong>Restore and import overwriting the existing database<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Restore<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"alert-orange wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u26a0 Warning: <\/strong>This replaces your current database with the backed-up copy, so any records added since the restore point will be lost. If you might need that newer data, save a .sql dump first (below) before you overwrite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Restore as a .SQL File (SQL Dump)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the <strong>Restore Backups<\/strong> page, find the date and click <strong>Show Databases<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Locate the database and click <strong>Restore<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the dropdown, select <strong>Copy the database SQL dump to \/home\/user\/user_database.sql without importing<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Restore<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the process finishes, the .sql file for that date is waiting in your account&#8217;s home directory, ready to import whenever you choose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Download a Database to Your Device<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the <strong>Restore Backups<\/strong> page, find the date and click <strong>Show Databases<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Locate the database and click <strong>Download<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A new window opens so you can watch the .sql file being generated on the backup server. The download starts automatically in your browser once it&#8217;s ready.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Tracking a Restore<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every restore you start appears in the table at the top of the <strong>Restore Backups<\/strong> page, with its <strong>Request ID<\/strong>, <strong>Type<\/strong>, <strong>Status<\/strong>, start and end times, and a <strong>Progress<\/strong> indicator. A file or database restore is finished once its status shows complete. Open the <strong>Restore Backup<\/strong> tool under the <strong>Files<\/strong> section, choose a restore point, and use its <strong>Show Files<\/strong> or <strong>Show Databases<\/strong> options to bring back exactly what you need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Troubleshooting<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Problem: <\/strong>The restore finished, but recent changes are missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Cause: <\/strong>The restore point predates those changes &#8211; each backup is a snapshot of a single day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Solution: <\/strong>Choose a more recent date, or restore the earlier snapshot to a separate location and merge the newer data manually.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Problem: <\/strong>A restore has been running for a long time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Cause: <\/strong>Large databases and big file sets take time to copy from the backup server, and only three requests run at once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Solution: <\/strong>Wait for the queue to clear.
