The process will create a new private key for the certificate, which is important for encryption and decryption of data transiting your website. Here&#8217;s what you need to do.<br><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><b>Step 1. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) on your hosting server.<\/span><br>The exact steps you need to take depend on your control panel. You will still need to download the new SSL certificate and install it on your server.<\/span><b> You must complete the process within 72 hours of the rekey.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When to Rekey your SSL Certificate<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>You should rekey SSL certificates if:<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The domain name associated with the SSL certificate changes.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You want to amend the SSL certificate\u2019s issuing organization.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You are transferring a website to a new server.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your server crashes.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The private key is somehow lost.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rekeying your SSL certificate requires accessing your current web server and your SSL provider dashboard.
