Let&#8217;s see how a subdomain works and how you can create one on your ScalaHosting account.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>How subdomains work<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every domain that points to your account has a <\/span><b>document root folder.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> When you type your site&#8217;s domain into your browser&#8217;s address bar, the web server fetches the homepage from the document root and serves it back to you.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A subdomain works in a pretty much identical fashion. Once again, you have a<\/span><b> document root that hosts the content<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> you see when you navigate to the subdomain. Inside it, you can have a fresh&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scalahosting.com\/blog\/how-to-install-wordpress\/\"><b>WordPress installation<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or a messaging board where your visitors discuss topics and share opinions. The content under the subdomain exists pretty much <\/span><b>independently from the primary site<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. However, the subdomain itself is not independent of the main domain.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the <\/span><b>main domain expires,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> all your subdomains become unavailable. Similarly, if you point your domain to a different account, your subdomains will stop working unless you<\/span><b> recreate them on the new server.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Creating subdomains on your ScalaHosting account<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scalahosting.com\/blog\/cloud-hosting\/\"><b>cPanel<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scalahosting.com\/spanel.html\"><b>SPanel<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> let you create as many subdomains as you want. The process is simple and takes no more than a couple of minutes. Creating a subdomain doesn&#8217;t modify your <\/span><b>domain&#8217;s DNS settings<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, so there&#8217;s no propagation period.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>SPanel<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><b>For SPanel follow these steps :<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><b>Log into SPanel&#8217;s User Interface<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SPanel&#8217;s default login URL is <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/yourdomain.com\/spanel<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Once again, you can use your <\/span><b>server&#8217;s IP<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> if your domain isn&#8217;t pointed to the correct hosting account.
