Quite a few are probably wondering if they can use the familiar Gmail interface for their custom email addresses, as well.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is possible, and we&#8217;ll now show you how.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Setting up my custom email address through Gmail<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google gives you the option of checking and sending emails hosted under your domain via Gmail&#8217;s interface. You will effectively use Gmail as an email client that uses <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scalahosting.com\/kb\/what-is-the-difference-between-pop-and-imap\/\"><b>POP3<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to retrieve your incoming messages from your<\/span><b> mail server and SMTP to process your outgoing communication.&nbsp;<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>&nbsp;Here are the steps:<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><b>Log into your Gmail account<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The settings for adding more email addresses to your account are only available in Gmail&#8217;s browser interface, so you&#8217;ll need a desktop or a laptop computer to complete the process.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\">\n<li><b>Go to Settings &gt; Accounts and Import &gt; Add a mail account<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click the <\/span><b>Gear<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> icon in the top-right corner, select <\/span><b>See all settings<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and open the <\/span><b>Accounts and Import <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tab. Select <\/span><b>Import emails from my other account (POP3)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and click <\/span><b>Next<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"4\">\n<li><b>Enter your custom email address login credentials<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the next screen, you will configure how Gmail will access your inbox. The first things you need to enter are the username and password you use to check your mail.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Information on your <\/span><b>POP server<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is available in the welcome email you&#8217;ve received after creating your ScalaHosting account. You can find a copy of it in the <\/span><b>My Details<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &gt; <\/span><b>Email History<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> section of your <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/my.scalahosting.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Client Area<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use <\/span><b>Port 995<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and select the <\/span><b>Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving the mail<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> checkbox.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the <\/span><b>Leave a copy of retrieved messages on the server<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> option, you can ensure that your incoming communication will be available on your ScalaHosting account. The next step is to apply the correct SMTP settings so that you can use Gmail to send messages from your custom email address.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gmail will ask you if you&#8217;d like to do it immediately after you configure the POP3 connection. Select <\/span><b>Yes, I want to be able to send mail as [your custom email address] <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and click <\/span><b>Next<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
