Your website\u2019s DNS zone file is a<\/span> file in text format<\/b> that is stored in a <\/span>DNS server<\/b><\/a> i.e., nameserver, and they are defined by the <\/span>RFC 1034 and 1035.<\/b><\/p>\n

The DNS Zone file may contain your domain\u2019s MX records, IP data, name data, and other records. They also house connecting data to communicate with <\/span>external DNS servers.<\/b><\/p>\n

Where and how you add, change, or delete your domain\u2019s DNS records depends on where you <\/span>host your DNS records<\/b>. Ultimately, where your nameservers are pointing to determines how and where you can control your DNS zones files.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Where to Manage Your DNS Zone Files<\/b><\/h2>\n

    You can <\/span>manage your DNS zone files<\/b> in three ways. Let\u2019s explore them.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Option #1: Registered Your Domain Name on ScalaHosting<\/b><\/h3>\n

    If you registered your domain with <\/span>ScalaHosting<\/b> and using the nameservers here, then you can manage your DNS zone files in your <\/span>SPanel account.<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

    Option #2: Using the ScalaHosting Nameserver but Not Registered on ScalaHosting<\/b><\/h3>\n

    This option applies to you if you are using the<\/span> Scalahosting nameserver<\/b> but registered your domain name elsewhere. You\u2019ll also manage your DNS zone files in your SPanel account. An example here would be if you\u2019re <\/span>hosting your website on ScalaHosting<\/b><\/a> or using the DNS hosting here.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Option #3: Neither Your Nameserver Nor Domain Registration is on ScalaHosting<\/b><\/h3>\n

    If you don\u2019t have your nameserver or domain registration on ScalaHosting, then you wouldn\u2019t need to <\/span>manage your DNS zone files <\/b>here as well. In this case, you\u2019ll need to work with your DNS and\/or website hosting company to manage your DNS zone files.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Manage Your DNS Zone Files at ScalaHosting<\/b><\/h2>\n

    If you have your <\/span>DNS at ScalaHosting<\/b>, you can add, change, or<\/span> remove DNS records<\/b> in your DNS manager on the SPanel.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Follow these steps to access all your records. – and you can add, change, or remove records as you see the need.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Login to <\/b><\/span>SPanel’s User Interface.<\/b><\/p>\n

    Search for and find the <\/span>Domain selection.<\/b> That\u2019s where you\u2019ll manage your DNS zone files.<\/span><\/p>\n

    A Record Management in SPanel<\/b><\/h3>\n

    Your <\/span>domain\u2019s A record<\/b> is a DNS record that\u2019s useful for <\/span>connecting your domain<\/b> to an IP address that leads your domain visitors to a website.<\/span><\/p>\n

    How to Add an A Record in SPanel<\/b><\/h4>\n

    \"Manage<\/p>\n

    In the <\/span>Name<\/b>, enter<\/span> @<\/b> to redirect to your current domain or the domain name or <\/span>subdomain <\/b><\/a>you want to redirect to. If <\/span>adding a domain name<\/b>, make sure to add a period at the end of the domain name. For example, your <\/span>yourdomain.com.<\/span><\/i> with the period in the end.<\/span><\/p>\n

    You can also use other names like <\/span>FTP <\/b>if it\u2019s an <\/span>FTP record.<\/b><\/p>\n

    The <\/span>TTL<\/b> (time to live<\/span><\/i>) is given in seconds automatically. Its default setting is <\/span>14400 seconds <\/b>and you can change it to as short as <\/span>30 seconds<\/b> if you wish.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Choose <\/span>A<\/b> from the dropdown of the types of records in your SPanel account.<\/span><\/p>\n

    In the <\/span>Value<\/b> box, enter the <\/span>IP address<\/b><\/a> you\u2019re setting as the host destination.<\/span><\/p>\n

    How to Edit or Remove an A Record in SPanel<\/b><\/h4>\n

    You can remove an A record by scrolling down the <\/span>DNS editor page<\/b> in your SPanel.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Once you\u2019ve found the A record you want to change or delete, take these steps :<\/b><\/p>\n
